Israel targets Türkiye’s TRT Haber team covering Al-Aqsa mosque incident
Israeli soldiers targeted a crew from Türkiye’s TRT Haber during an assault on individuals heading to prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque gate in Jerusalem.
The attack resulted in injuries to a TRT cameraman, Caliber.Az reports citing the Turkish media.
TRT Haber’s team was covering the violations by Israeli forces before Friday prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem when they were targeted.
Israeli forces initially attacked Palestinians at the Al-Aqsa gate and then turned their aggression toward the TRT Haber crew that was documenting the incident. Cameraman Omar Awwad sustained injuries in the assault.
During the intervention, Israeli forces confiscated the phone of TRT Haber reporter Mucahit Aydemir, deleted the images, and forcibly removed the team from the area, preventing them from broadcasting.
This attack is not the first on TRT Haber by Israeli forces. On November 17, 2023, during Israel’s operations against Gaza, Israeli security forces targeted the TRT Haber team while they were reporting on similar obstructions and use of force by Israeli authorities against Palestinians heading to Al-Aqsa Mosque.
