EU imposes sanctions on Russian journalists PHOTO
The European Union has imposed sanctions on three Russian journalists, the EU Council announced.
Those targeted are Dmitry Guberniev, Pavel Zarubin, and Ekaterina Andreeva, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
This move reflects the EU’s broader strategy of countering not only economic and military support for Russia’s war in Ukraine but also information manipulation that is judged to undermine democratic resilience and public order across member states.
Pavel Zarubin is a senior state television reporter and host of programs like Moscow. Kremlin. Putin, widely described by Western outlets as a leading Kremlin propagandist with exceptionally close access to the Russian leadership, often delivers coverage aligned with official narratives.

Dmitry Guberniev is a prominent TV presenter and sports commentator on Russia’s Match TV and other state platforms who has publicly supported government positions, including participation in pro-war events, and is listed in international sanctions databases for his visibility in state media.

Ekaterina Andreeva is a long-tenured anchor on Channel One Russia’s flagship news programs, recognised internationally for her consistent presentation of official Russian narratives about the Ukraine conflict, and previously subject to sanctions for her role in amplifying those messages.
