Israeli army destroys three tunnels in Gaza Strip
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that operatives from the elite Yahalom Unit, along with engineering forces, had investigated and destroyed three underground tunnels in the Beit Lahia area of northern Gaza.
The tunnels, spanning approximately 7.5 kilometers and reaching depths of several dozen meters, were located by IDF forces during ongoing operations, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
Inside the tunnels, the IDF discovered equipment that had been stolen from Israeli soldiers during the October 7, 2023, attack, as well as maps of Israeli communities situated near Gaza.
Additionally, the tunnels held maps of border settlements located near the southern border of Israel, as well as various weapons and living quarters. The military provided these details following the examination of the underground structures.
The tunnel routes were first identified by the IDF's Kfir Brigade under the command of its 162nd Division, along with engineering troops and soldiers from the military's Yahalom Unit.
The Kfir Brigade has been actively operating for over two months to locate weapons, dismantle terrorist infrastructure both above and below ground, eliminate terrorists in close-quarters combat, and conduct airstrikes on military targets in the Beit Lahia area.
