Israeli military says it struck Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon
The Israeli military said it carried out overnight strikes on sites it described as Hezbollah command centres and infrastructure in southern Lebanon following rocket fire toward Israel.
In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the targets were located in the area of Ansar, a village from which rockets were launched toward Israeli territory on March 9, Caliber.Az reports.
According to the IDF, the strikes were conducted in response to those launches.
The military also said that several hours after the rockets were fired, the IDF’s Arabic-language spokesperson issued a warning to residents of the village from which the launches originated, urging them to evacuate the area for their safety.
In its statement, the IDF accused Hezbollah of placing military infrastructure within civilian areas and launching rockets from populated locations, which puts Lebanese civilians at risk.
The Israeli military added that it would continue operations against Hezbollah following deliberate attacks on Israel.
