Italian goods worth hundreds of millions continue to reach Russia Trade Chamber head says

Italy has supplied Russia with clothing and food products worth more than €300 million since the beginning of this year, according to figures cited by the Italian-Russian Chamber of Commerce.

As reported by Caliber.Az with reference to Russian media, the information was disclosed by Vincenzo Trani, president of the chamber.

He said that, based on the latest data for the second quarter of 2025, exports of clothing and textile products amounted to around €186 million, while shipments of packaged food products — including confectionery and bakery items — totalled approximately €132 million.

“According to the latest data for the second quarter of 2025, the volume of clothing and textile supplies reached about €186 million, while the segment of packaged food products, including sweets and bakery goods, amounted to around €132 million,” Trani said.

He added that many Italian companies producing clothing and footwear continue to operate on the Russian market. “They make use of local distributors or structures in third countries. In this way, companies manage not to violate the current regulatory requirements,” Trani explained.

At the same time, Trani warned that a ban on supplying sanitary ware to Russia would result in significant financial losses for Italian businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises.

“According to the latest estimates, a ban on sanitary products will lead to annual losses of about €140 million for the Italian sector. Taking into account other affected product categories, the cumulative impact of the relevant restrictive measures could reach €250 million in lost profits,” he said.

According to Trani, restrictions on exports of sanitary ware to Russia directly undermine the revenues of Italian manufacturers. He emphasised that the damage primarily affects small and medium-sized companies that had previously operated successfully in the Russian market. He also reiterated that total annual losses, when other product categories are included, could amount to as much as €250 million.
