Japan unveils details about second quake
The magnitude of the earthquake in the Japanese Ishikawa Prefecture, which occurred on January 1, has been increased from 7.4 to 7.6 on the Richter scale.
Several powerful earthquakes occurred in western Japan, in Ishikawa and Niigata prefectures on January 1. As a result, hundreds of buildings were damaged and some collapsed, Gazeta.ru reports citing the message on the website of the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).
JMA seismologists also announced the data on the first earthquake. Initially, tremors with a magnitude of 5.7 were observed in Ishikawa Prefecture. Later, a third earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 occurred in Osaka Prefecture.
High-speed train service has been suspended in Japan due to the earthquakes. The country's authorities said that there were no emergency situations at Japanese nuclear facilities due to aftershocks. At the moment, there have been no reports of casualties.
