Japan vows cooperation with US on North Korea’s denuclearisation
Japanese government Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi has said that North Korea’s nuclear program poses a threat to the country’s security and announced plans to cooperate with the United States on the “complete denuclearisation” of the Korean Peninsula.
Hayashi made the statement commenting on North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’ remarks about the possibility of dialogue with Donald Trump and his claim that the concept of “denuclearisation” is meaningless, Caliber.Az reports, citing a foreign news agency.
“We are aware of these reports, but the government will refrain from commenting on each statement. Nevertheless, we believe that North Korea’s missile and nuclear program threatens the peace and security of Japan and the international community and is absolutely unacceptable,” the cabinet secretary said.
Hayashi added that Japan will continue to work with the United States and South Korea for the “full implementation of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.”
