Karabakh reconstruction: Russian region supports Azerbaijan with new kindergarten initiative
Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia, Rahman Mustafayev, met with the Governor of Russia’s Astrakhan region, Igor Babushkin, at the Azerbaijani Embassy in Moscow to discuss key areas of bilateral cooperation.
The meeting focused on strengthening trade, economic, and industrial ties between Azerbaijan and the Astrakhan region, Caliber.Az reports referring to local media agencies.
The two officials also discussed expanding collaboration in culture, education, and youth policy.
A major highlight of the discussions was the initiative to construct a kindergarten for 80 children in the Gubadli district, a territory recently liberated from occupation. The kindergarten, which will be a gift from the Astrakhan region to Azerbaijan, underscores the friendly relations between the two sides.
Ambassador Mustafayev expressed his deep gratitude to Governor Babushkin for this goodwill gesture, emphasizing its symbolic significance in the context of international partnership.
During the meeting, it was also noted that the kindergarten would be built in a traditional Russian architectural style, reflecting the cultural ties between the two nations. The construction is scheduled for completion between May and June 2025.
This initiative follows discussions held on December 10, 2024, when Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met with Governor Igor Babushkin in Baku. During that meeting, President Aliyev highlighted the importance of support from friendly nations in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Azerbaijan’s liberated territories. He specifically praised the contribution of the Astrakhan region in developing social infrastructure, emphasizing that such efforts strengthen ties between Azerbaijan and Russia.
