Kazakh peacekeepers join UN medical mission to provide aid in Syria

27 June 2026 12:50

Kazakhstani military personnel serving with the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF), together with medical staff from the UN field hospital and Syrian healthcare professionals, have carried out a joint humanitarian medical campaign in southwestern Syria, according to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Defence.

The initiative provided outpatient medical consultations to residents of Khan Arnab in Syria’s Al-Quneitra province. Patients received primary healthcare services and recommendations for further treatment following medical examinations, Caliber.Az reports.

Special attention was given to children, elderly residents, and individuals requiring ongoing medical supervision, the ministry said.

Officials stated that the combined efforts of Kazakh peacekeepers, UN medical staff, and Syrian doctors enabled timely and qualified medical assistance to be delivered to the local population. Residents of Khan Arnab reportedly expressed gratitude for the support, praising the professionalism and care of the personnel involved.

The Ministry of Defence added that such humanitarian initiatives help strengthen cooperation between peacekeeping forces and local communities while increasing trust in UN mission activities in the region.
