Kazakh president reaffirms support for Palestinian statehood

02 December 2025 19:16

Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has reaffirmed his support for recognising Palestinian statehood as he received Chief Justice of Palestine and Presidential Advisor on Religious Affairs Mahmoud al-Habbash.

Welcoming his guest, the Head of State noted that since the establishment of diplomatic relations, cooperation between Kazakhstan and Palestine has developed in the spirit of friendship, mutual support, and respect, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Tokayev's press service.

Tokayev emphasised that Kazakhstan consistently supports international initiatives aimed at recognising Palestine as a full member of the international community.

The President also reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to a diplomatic resolution of the situation in the Middle East and to the establishment of the State of Palestine based on the “two states for two peoples” formula, in accordance with the UN Charter and international law.

Al-Habbash, delivering a personal message from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, expressed gratitude for Kazakhstan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people and their aspirations for a peaceful and prosperous future.

He noted that Kazakhstan is rightly considered a brotherly country to Palestine, which is reflected in both bilateral contacts and multilateral formats, particularly within the UN and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Tokayev conveyed warm wishes to Mahmoud Abbas and extended an invitation for an official visit to Kazakhstan.
