Kazakhstan enters Abraham Accords KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM TOKAYEV–TRUMP–NETANYAHU TALKS

07 November 2025 10:00

During a meeting in the Oval Office, a joint telephone conversation took place between the presidents of Kazakhstan and the United States, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Donald Trump, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The main topic of the discussion was Kazakhstan’s intention to join the “Abraham Accords,” Caliber.Az reports, citing the Kazakh president’s press service (Akorda).

Tokayev stressed that US President Donald Trump had achieved remarkable results once considered unattainable, creating real conditions for establishing lasting peace in the Middle East.

The Kazakh leader said that by joining the Abraham Accords, Kazakhstan seeks to contribute to overcoming confrontation, promoting dialogue, and supporting international law based on the UN Charter.

He underlined that Kazakhstan’s decision does not affect the country’s bilateral commitments with any state and represents a natural extension of its multilateral diplomacy aimed at fostering peace and security.

US President Donald Trump welcomed Tokayev’s decision to join the Abraham Accords, noting that it would encourage other countries to support the initiative.

“This is a major step forward in building bridges across the World. Today, more Nations are lining up to embrace Peace and Prosperity through my Abraham Accords,” Trump said following the call.

The announcement, delivered as Trump met with the leaders of five Central Asian states, marks the first expansion of the Abraham Accords since 2020.

However, it remains uncertain whether the step will lead to tangible changes in the well-established diplomatic ties between Israel and Kazakhstan.

Senior members of the Trump administration emphasised the significance of the decision, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio telling reporters that it represents an “enhanced relationship that goes beyond traditional diplomatic ties and the mere presence of embassies in each other’s capitals.”

Earlier, US officials told Axios that Kazakhstan’s move was already being viewed in Washington as an initial step toward rebuilding Israel’s standing across the Arab and broader Muslim world.

They noted that Astana’s planned accession was expected to reinvigorate the Abraham Accords framework, adding that wider participation by Muslim-majority states could strengthen Israel’s international legitimacy.

A senior American official said this dynamic underscores the enduring appeal of the Accords as a platform for regional cooperation and could redirect attention away from the Gaza war toward a more stable and collaborative regional landscape.
