Kazakhstan foils illegal import of over 110 tonnes of wheat from Russia

Kazakhstan has thwarted an attempt to import more than 110 tonnes of Russian wheat into the country at the border with Russia, the Kazakh State Revenue Committee has said.
"When crossing the Kazakh-Russian border through the road checkpoint ‘Zhelkuar’, an attempt to import more than 110 tonnes of wheat from the Russian Federation was stopped, four trucks were detained, which, according to shipping documents, transported crushed grain," the Committee stated, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
Earlier, Kazakhstan imposed a temporary ban on wheat imports into the country to be started on April 12, 2024, which was to be in place for six months.
