Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) and Airbus have signed a new cooperation agreement aimed at accelerating the export of the HÜRJET Jet Training Aircraft to Spain at the IDEF 2025 Fair.
The agreement formalises the delivery process to the Spanish Air Force and clarifies the roles of both companies in the project, Caliber.Az reports per Turkish media.
This development follows an industrial cooperation memorandum signed in May 2025 between TAI and Spanish defence firms, including Airbus, establishing a strategic partnership. The latest agreement, announced during IDEF 2025, marks a significant step toward the HÜRJET’s first exports to Europe.

According to the report, Spain has decided to procure up to 30 HÜRJET aircraft to meet its jet training needs. The final sales contract is expected to be signed by the end of 2025, with deliveries beginning in 2028.
With this strategic collaboration, TAI and Airbus aim to build a long-term, sustainable partnership within the European defence industry. Officials emphasised that the cooperation will not only advance the HÜRJET project but also deepen defence and aerospace ties between Türkiye and Spain.
"We're initially saying 30+. The exact number isn't clear, but it will be over 30. It could be 30, it could be 36. We'll finalize that with government officials in the coming days, but I can say it won't be under 30," said TAI General Manager Mehmet Demiroğlu.
