Incumbent mayor confirms bid for third term as Tbilisi prepares for October vote
Kakha Kaladze, the incumbent mayor of Tbilisi, has officially confirmed his intention to seek a third term in the upcoming mayoral elections scheduled for October 4, 2025.
Only Georgian citizens registered as residents of Tbilisi will be eligible to vote in this election, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
Speaking publicly, Kaladze stated, “As the current mayor of the city, I will be participating in the elections.” He also noted that this decision has been openly supported by the Prime Minister.
Kaladze further revealed that the ruling Georgian Dream party, is preparing to launch its formal election campaign imminently. “We will soon hold an official presentation, after which we will announce candidates for majoritarian parliamentary seats both in the capital and nationwide,” he explained.
The mayor emphasized that preparations are well underway and that the campaign will soon transition into a more active phase. This announcement marks the beginning of what promises to be a closely watched electoral contest in Georgia’s capital.
