Utility worker killed in explosion in North Ossetia, Russia

A municipal services worker has been killed in an explosion in North Ossetia, Russia, regional authorities said on April 17.

According to Sergey Menyaylo, the incident occurred early in the morning at the intersection of Internatsionalnaya Street and Partizansky Lane while rubbish containers were being loaded.

“An explosion occurred during the loading of waste containers. Tragically, a municipal worker who was carrying out cleaning work at the time was killed,” Menyaylo said in a statement.

Emergency services and law enforcement officers are currently working at the scene. Authorities have launched an investigation and are carrying out all necessary measures to determine the circumstances of the incident.
