Kazakhstan, Japan conclude multi-billion-dollar agreements
Kazakhstan and Japan have taken a major step toward strengthening bilateral ties, formalizing a series of high-value agreements during President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s official visit to Tokyo.
Following high-level negotiations, President Tokayev and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi signed a joint statement, Caliber.Az reported, citing the press office of the Kazakh president, Akorda.
In addition to the joint declaration, members of the official delegations from both countries signed 14 intergovernmental and interagency agreements, underscoring the breadth of bilateral cooperation.
The talks took place on December 18, during which President Tokayev described the visit as a significant milestone in Kazakhstan–Japan relations. He emphasized that Japan has long been regarded in Kazakhstan as a reliable and time-tested partner in Asia.
Prime Minister Takaichi, in turn, expressed confidence that President Tokayev’s official visit would inject fresh momentum into mutually beneficial cooperation between the two nations.
Earlier reports indicated that agreements totaling more than $3.7 billion were expected to be signed as part of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s visit to Japan.
