Kazakhstan ready to host Ukraine peace talks – Russian Foreign Ministry

Kazakhstan has repeatedly offered to host negotiations on Ukraine, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said in an interview with TASS.

“We are grateful to the republic’s leadership for its attention to the situation around Ukraine and appreciate its efforts to find ways to achieve a peaceful settlement of the conflict as soon as possible. In addition, Astana has repeatedly offered to host negotiations,” he stressed.

According to the diplomat, Russia and Kazakhstan have developed trusting relations that allow them to maintain a confidential dialogue on many strategic issues. Galuzin also described the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member as Moscow’s closest partner and ally.

He also noted that Russia remains committed to the Anchorage agreements at this stage.

“For our part, while maintaining our commitment to the goals of the ‘special military operation’ set by the Russian leadership, we are ready to implement them taking into account the Anchorage understandings... We are convinced that it is possible to resolve the situation around Ukraine through diplomatic means, provided there is the necessary political will,” Galuzin said.
