Kazakhstan's budget airline cancels Astana–Omsk flights over drone risks
09 July 2026 16:56
Kazakhstan's low-cost carrier VietJet Qazaqstan has temporarily suspended flights between Astana and the Russian city of Omsk due to drone-related security concerns.
The restriction will remain in effect from July 9 to July 20, 2026. The airline has also halted ticket sales on the route until the end of August, Caliber.Az reports via Kazakh media.
Passengers affected by the cancellations are being offered either full refunds or an alternative travel option involving a flight from Astana to Petropavlovsk, followed by a bus transfer to and from Omsk.
Before the suspension was introduced, VietJet Qazaqstan operated two daily flights between Astana and Omsk.
