Kremlin optimistic suspension of US arms aid could encourage peace talks
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has suggested that the suspension of US arms deliveries could prompt Ukraine to explore peaceful means of resolving the ongoing conflict.
Peskov emphasized that much of Ukraine's military support, including weapons, intelligence, and satellite reconnaissance data, comes from the United States, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
“Most of the supplies of so-called military products come precisely from the United States. All intelligence, mainly satellite reconnaissance data and so on, everything is mainly coming from the United States,” Peskov said.
He further noted that if the United States halts or suspends these supplies, Ukraine would face a significant loss of critical ammunition, military equipment, and intelligence resources. “If this is indeed true, and if these supplies are suspended or stopped, then, accordingly, Kyiv will lose most of all ammunition, all equipment, all intelligence,” he explained.
Peskov concluded by expressing a cautious optimism, suggesting that the loss of vital support from the US could influence Ukraine to seek a diplomatic solution. “Perhaps we can, without indulging in excessive optimism, modestly hope that this may encourage Ukraine to lean towards trying to resolve the situation by peaceful means,” he said.
