Kremlin reveals date for upcoming Putin-Erdogan meeting
A telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan is scheduled for August 2.
There are no dates yet for Putin's possible trip to Türkiye, Kommersant quotes Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying.
"Indeed, a telephone conversation, as Putin said, is planned for Wednesday [August 2]," the Kremlin spokesman said in response to a related question during a press call.
However, he did not specify what the talk would focus on or other details.
Sources for The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported last week that Vladimir Putin was ignoring his Turkish counterpart's requests for talks to restart the grain deal.
According to WSJ sources, Mr Erdogan insisted on a telephone conversation. Since July 18, Russia has suspended participation in the grain deal due to non-fulfilment of its conditions.
