Kremlin spox: Moscow disagrees with Pashinyan's CSTO claims
Moscow firmly rejects Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s assertion that the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) threatens Armenia.
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov addressed the issue in response to a Russian media inquiry, emphasizing that while Armenia is entitled to its own strategic choices, Moscow does not concur with Pashinyan’s views, Caliber.Az reports.
“We are discussing matters within Armenia’s sovereign rights. Armenia is free to determine its strategic and tactical paths. However, we must categorically disagree with Mr. Pashinyan's perspective,” Peskov stated.
Peskov highlighted that the CSTO does not pose any threat to Armenia’s sovereignty. Instead, he asserted that the organization serves to protect the sovereignty of its member states.
Armenia recently suspended its participation in the CSTO, citing threats to its sovereignty as the reason. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan articulated this stance during the 2nd Armenian Global Summit, asserting that the CSTO endangers Armenia’s security, future, and sovereignty.
