Kremlin warns US blockade of Strait of Hormuz could hit global markets

Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said a potential U.S. blockade of the Strait of Hormuz would most likely have a negative impact on international markets.

“Most likely, such actions [a U.S. blockade of the Strait of Hormuz] will continue to negatively affect international markets; this can be assumed with a high degree of probability,” the Kremlin representative noted, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.

Peskov also said Russia remains ready to assist in efforts to de-escalate tensions surrounding Iran, including a previously proposed arrangement involving enriched uranium.

“This proposal was put forward by the president [Vladimir Putin] in his contacts with the U.S. and regional states. The proposal remains in effect, but it has not been taken up,” the press secretary explained.
