Kyrgyz embassy says two citizens injured in Russia's Wildberries warehouse fires

Two Kyrgyz nationals remain in hospital after being injured in fires at Wildberries logistics centres in Russia that were sparked by overnight drone attacks, the Kyrgyz Embassy in Moscow said on July 20.

The embassy said it is continuing to verify whether any other Kyrgyz citizens were affected by the fires, which broke out on July 18 at Wildberries-Russ warehouse facilities in Elektrostal, in the Moscow region, and Kotovsk, in the Tambov region, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kyrgyz media.

According to the embassy, the two injured Kyrgyz nationals are in satisfactory condition and are receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Elektrostal. Embassy officials have visited the patients, met with their relatives and provided consular and legal assistance.

The embassy said it had not received any officially confirmed information that Kyrgyz citizens were among those killed in the incidents.

It added that its emergency hotline received calls on July 18 and 19 from people searching for relatives who had lost contact after the fires, as well as from individuals who had lost their identity documents. Those who had initially been unreachable have since contacted their families.

Two Kyrgyz citizens who escaped the fires but lost their personal belongings and documents have been issued emergency travel certificates to enable their return to Kyrgyzstan.

The fires erupted after Wildberries-Russ logistics facilities in Elektrostal and Kotovsk were hit in overnight drone attacks on July 18.

Preliminary reports indicate that one person was killed and 45 were injured in Elektrostal, while seven people were killed and 32 injured in Kotovsk.
