Russia, Kyrgyzstan sign over $800 million in deals at economic forum UPDATED

Russia and Kyrgyzstan have signed more than 40 agreements worth over $800 million during the 8th Kyrgyz-Russian Economic Forum, the head of the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund, Artem Novikov, said on Thursday, August 6.

“At the moment, according to our preliminary estimates, more than 40 documents have been signed on the sidelines of the 8th Kyrgyz-Russian Economic Forum. These include investment agreements, agreements on the implementation of major infrastructure projects, as well as contracts between entrepreneurs of the two countries. According to preliminary estimates, the total amount of signed agreements exceeds $800 million,” Novikov said.

The agreements cover a range of sectors, including the construction of solar power plants, development of Kyrgyzstan’s railway infrastructure, and the creation of a seamless mobile operator linking Kyrgyzstan and Russia.

Novikov added that the parties had also agreed to increase the capital of the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund to $1 billion.

Kyrgyzstan considers Russia a strategic partner and ally, President Sadyr Japarov said during the 8th Kyrgyz-Russian Economic Forum.

In his remarks, Japarov highlighted the shared history and cultural ties between the two countries, Caliber.Az reports via TASS.

The Kyrgyz president also invited Russian investors to participate in large-scale projects in the country.

In turn, Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked Japarov for strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding trade between the two countries. According to Putin, trade turnover between Russia and Kyrgyzstan increased by 26% in 2025, exceeding $5 billion.

“It cannot but be a source of satisfaction that the coordinated efforts of the governments and agencies of Russia and Kyrgyzstan, businesses and regional authorities have made it possible to build a solid economic foundation for bilateral cooperation,” the Russian leader emphasised.

Putin also praised the work of the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund, which has already financed around 4,000 joint projects across various sectors of Kyrgyzstan's economy, with total funding exceeding $1 billion.
