Kyrgyzstan dismantles international cybercrime ring involving Chinese nationals
Kyrgyzstan's State Committee on National Security has announced the successful neutralisation of an international cybercrime group operating within its borders.
The group, comprised of 13 Chinese citizens, was apprehended in the city of Karakol, Issyk-Kul region. Their activities primarily revolved around cybercrime and money laundering schemes conducted within the Kyrgyz Republic, TASS reports.
The State Committee revealed that the cybercriminals utilized specially designed programs to carry out illegal financial transactions and gain unauthorized access to electronic information. They then systematically extracted income while meticulously covering their tracks to avoid detection.
The criminal activities targeted individuals primarily from China, Hong Kong, and Malaysia, with the perpetrators engaging in fraudulent schemes against Chinese nationals residing in these countries.
