Kyrgyzstan pledges to comply with Western sanctions against Russia
Kyrgyzstan’s Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubayev has said his country doesn’t intend to violate anti-Russian sanctions in terms of supplying goods that can be used for military purposes.
"There are agreements on compliance with anti-Russian sanctions. We are cooperating with Russia, Ukraine and European countries. There was a request from European partners not to violate the sanctions. We agreed to this, but we cannot always track compliance," Gazeta.ru quotes Kulubayev as saying.
The minister stressed that Central Asian countries have expressed their position supporting a peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian conflict and "cannot support the Russian or Ukrainian side in any way".
Kulubayev added that Kyrgyzstan will comply with the sanctions if possible, but trade with Russia will continue. Russia is the republic's main partner.
