Latvia blocks 19 Russian websites over security concerns
National Electronic Media Council (NEPLP) has blocked access to 19 Russian websites, including that of the political party Rodina.
The list of restricted resources also includes websites linked to the head of Kalmykia, the Vyazma Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, and the official portal of Zabaykalsky Krai. Latvian authorities said the content published on these platforms was deemed contrary to the country’s information and national security interests, Caliber.Az reports per Latvian media.
The regulator stated that access to such websites could negatively impact social cohesion, interethnic relations, and public understanding of shared values, as well as weaken residents’ sense of belonging to a unified national information space in Latvia.
