Le Parisien: G7 agrees to expand weapons production in Ukraine
The Group of Seven (G7) has agreed to expand weapons production directly on Ukrainian territory, including the manufacture of long-range cruise missiles, Le Parisien reports, citing a diplomatic source.
The source said, on the sidelines of the G7 summit, that they will produce under license not only air defence systems but also capabilities for deep strikes.
In a joint statement following the meeting, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said US companies would grant production rights to European and Ukrainian firms, adding that he expressed “gratitude to President Trump for a high level of willingness to cooperate” on the issue.
Under the agreement, the focus will be on replenishing air defence systems and developing long-range missile capabilities.
The source noted that due to intense hostilities, Ukrainian air defence systems, including Patriot batteries, are depleting large stocks of interceptors, prompting Western countries to seek new ways to scale up supply.
