Lebanese PM accuses Israel of violating ceasefire After Airstrikes on Beirut Suburb
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has accused Israel of violating the ceasefire agreement following airstrikes on the southern suburb of Beirut early on April 1 morning.
In a statement, Salam described the Israeli attacks as a “blatant violation of the ceasefire terms” and an “outrageous breach” of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
He called for international condemnation of the airstrikes, which he claimed undermined the fragile peace in the region.
To recall, the Israeli military carried out an airstrike on a building in Beirut’s southern suburbs early on April 1, resulting in the deaths of at least three individuals.
The strike, which targeted a member of the Hezbollah militant group, occurred without prior warning, just days after Israel launched its first attack on the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on March 28, following the end of a ceasefire that had halted hostilities between Israeli forces and Hezbollah in November.
The Lebanese Health Ministry reported that at least seven other people were injured in the airstrike. According to the Israeli military, the attack aimed at a Hezbollah member who had been assisting the Palestinian Hamas group in launching attacks against Israel from the Gaza Strip.
