Lithuania launches daily monitoring system for petroleum prices
Gas stations in Lithuania will be required to submit fuel price data on a daily basis to the country's state energy agency.
The order to share data with the Lithuanian Energy Agency (LEA) takes effect from April 8, local media outlet LRT reported, as Caliber.Az cites.
The agency clarified that such a monitoring system will increase market transparency and help consumers find more competitive fuel prices. According to the media article, 537 out of approximately 700 petroleum stations have so far provided their data.
Energy Minister Žygimantas Vaičiūnas has requested that pricing data be submitted by 10:00 a.m. daily. According to media reports, some major operators, including “Alauša” and “Emsi,” have not yet submitted their information.
The lowest fuel prices were recorded in the districts of Kelmė and Tauragė, where Diesel is offered at €2.090 per liter and Petroleum at €1.640 per liter. In comparison, the highest prices were observed in Kaunas and Vilnius, with Diesel at €2.389 per liter and Petroleum at €1.918 per liter.
