Lithuania, Poland drive sharp rise in EU beer supplies to Russia

Poland and Lithuania sharply increased beer shipments to Russia in June, driving a significant monthly rise in imports from the European Union despite a year-on-year decline, Eurostat said.

The value of beer products imported into Russia from EU countries reached €4.1 million in June 2026, up 2.7 times from May. However, the figure was still 44% lower than the level recorded in June 2025, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

Poland accounted for the largest share of the increase, with beer imports from the country rising 6.6 times to €2.3 million. Shipments from Lithuania jumped sixfold to €677,000.

Belgium ranked third among EU suppliers, exporting beer worth €473,000 to Russia during the month.

Meanwhile, imports from the Czech Republic declined by 25% to €448,000. Germany, Latvia and Portugal supplied beer worth €109,000, €59,000 and €39,000, respectively.

Despite the sharp increase in June, overall EU beer exports to Russia remained substantially below last year’s levels. In the first six months of 2026, the combined value of EU beer exports to Russia stood at €4.95 million, representing a 5.2-fold decrease compared with the same period in 2025.
