Lithuania to hold consultations with Ukrainian air defence specialists
Lithuania will host Ukrainian air defence specialists to help strengthen its protection against drones, Defence Minister Robertas Kaunas announced.
Ukrainian experts will arrive in the country within the next two weeks, Caliber.Az reports per Lithuanian media.
“Air defence specialists from Ukraine are coming. They will help assess our already prepared plan, provide their opinion, their vision, and share their experience,” Kaunas told reporters.
The decision follows an incident on May 20, when air alerts were issued in eastern Lithuania and in Vilnius due to a suspected drone entering the country’s airspace. High-ranking state officials were among those evacuated to shelters at the time.
The drone, detected by radar systems, later disappeared. One version suggests it may have crashed on Lithuanian territory, while another indicates it could have left the country’s airspace.
