London police detain demonstrators at Palestine Action rally
Police have made arrests at a demonstration in London in support of the pro-Palestinian group Palestine Action.
The Guardian reported the development without specifying the exact number of those detained.
The protest took place in Parliament Square on September 6, opposite the Palace of Westminster, with more than a thousand people participating.
On the same day, another protest was also held in London — the National March for Palestine, organized by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign.
According to a TASS correspondent at the scene, demonstrators set off from Russell Square near the British Museum to the residence of Prime Minister Keir Starmer, marching to the beat of drums.
Among the participants, two women were seen wearing T-shirts of the banned group, drawing support from other demonstrators. The march itself has so far been peaceful. Protesters chanted familiar slogans such as “Stop the genocide in Gaza,” “Stop starving Gaza,” “Say no to ethnic cleansing,” and “Repeal the ban, defend the right to protest.”
Many voiced opposition to the leaders of Israel, the U.S., and the UK, with Prime Minister Keir Starmer and former Foreign Secretary David Lammy facing particular criticism.
