Lukashenko says Belarus open for refugees and pilgrims, but won't tolerate threats
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to welcoming those who come with goodwill while emphasizing readiness to defend its sovereignty.
“We are always open to those who come to us with kindness. This will always be the case. We never hinder foreign pilgrims who go to worship our shrines. We help people in distress, first of all refugees,” Lukashenko said during a meeting with representatives of religious denominations, Caliber.Az reports, citing Belarus media.
He also stressed Belarus's preparedness to respond decisively to any threats. “Without sparing our own lives, we are ready to give a decisive response to the enemy. This has happened many times in our thousand-year history,” he stated.
Lukashenko's remarks come amid ongoing geopolitical tensions, with Belarus maintaining close ties with Russia while facing Western sanctions and criticism over its handling of migration and security issues.
