Macron holds talks with leaders of Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq
French President Emmanuel Macron held phone conversations with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
Macron stated that France is working with its partners to prevent further escalation of the conflict in the region. He emphasised that the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria, Lebanon, and other countries in the region must be respected, Caliber.Az reports, citing the French president’s X account.

The French leader also noted that efforts to destabilise the region must not create conditions for terrorism. He condemned the attack on the UN contingent in Lebanon, highlighting the mission’s key role in stabilising the south of the country and reaffirming France’s continued support for it.
Additionally, Macron reported a phone call with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani. He expressed France’s solidarity with Iraq amid the ongoing regional escalation and confirmed support for Baghdad’s efforts to prevent the country from being drawn into conflict.
