Maduro accuses US & Elon Musk of orchestrating failed coup in Venezuela
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has accused the United States and American entrepreneur Elon Musk of being behind a failed coup attempt in Venezuela.
During a news conference, Maduro labeled the alleged plot as a "coup orchestrated by the United States and Elon Musk, along with Argentinian President Javier Milei and other right-wing extremists," Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Maduro suggested that the current situation is an attempt to recreate a scenario similar to the 2019 events when a coalition of countries, led by the US, recognized Juan Guaidó's self-declaration as president of Venezuela. He described the situation as a sequel to the "Guaidó movie" and warned Venezuelans to resist being drawn into another coup attempt.
The presidential election held on July 28 saw Maduro securing 51.95% of the vote, according to the National Electoral Council, which had counted nearly 97% of ballots. His opponent, Edmundo Gonzalez, a far-right opposition figure, received 43.18%. On election day, opposition leader Corina Machado announced that Gonzalez’s campaign team would not accept the election results.
