Malaysia: 33 injured in Petronas pipeline fire, emergency crews deployed VIDEO
Several key sections of the Elite Highway have been shut down following a massive gas pipeline fire in Subang Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia, earlier this morning.
Highway operator Plus Malaysia Berhad announced that the route between Seafield and Bandar Saujana Putra is now closed to all vehicles due to safety concerns.
“As a result, southbound drivers will be redirected to the Seafield Toll Plaza and can re-enter the Elite Highway via the Bandar Saujana Putra Toll Plaza,” the company stated in a post on X, Caliber.Az reports via Malaysian media.
“Meanwhile, northbound drivers must exit at the Bandar Saujana Putra Toll Plaza and re-enter the highway through the Seafield Toll Plaza.”
In addition to the closure between Seafield and Bandar Saujana Putra, Plus confirmed that access to the Elite Highway from the USJ and Putra Heights Toll Plazas has also been restricted.
Motorists are urged to plan their routes accordingly and rely on navigation apps such as Waze or Google Maps for alternative directions.

The fire originated from a leak in a Petronas Gas Bhd (PGB) main pipeline, which spans approximately 500 meters. Although Petronas has since shut off the pipeline valve, the fire spread to nearby residential areas in Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru, forcing evacuations.
Victims with minor injuries were temporarily sheltered at the Sri Maha Kaliamman temple in Subang Jaya, where they received medical attention from health ministry personnel.
At least 33 individuals had received initial treatment, with some transported to hospitals in Serdang, Putrajaya, and Cyberjaya for further care.
The Department of Environment (DOE) has deployed a team to assess air quality in the affected area.
DOE Director-General Wan Abdul Latiff Wan Jaffar stated that an initial response team from the Selangor branch had been dispatched to conduct a preliminary evaluation.
“The public is advised to avoid areas near the fire,” he cautioned.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation, and further updates will be provided as investigations progress.
