Massive drone strike hits Russia, hundreds of drones downed

A large-scale drone attack on Russian regions overnight on May 17 has been described as the most extensive this year, the Russian Defence Ministry announced.

According to the Russian media reports, 556 drones were shot down between midnight and 07:00 Moscow time, with an additional 30 intercepted over the following two hours.

The previous largest attack took place on the night of May 7, when more than 300 UAVs were destroyed.

Earlier, around 80 drones were intercepted while approaching the capital overnight. In Moscow, 12 people were injured, while fatalities and additional injuries were reported in the Moscow region.
