Mayor: Fifth drone shot down over Moscow in a day
Moscow’s air defences have intercepted a drone heading towards the Russian capital, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported on his Telegram channel.
According to Sobyanin, the latest drone was shot down by the Ministry of Defence’s air defence forces. Emergency services are attending the site where debris from the drone fell.
This marks the fifth drone to be intercepted over Moscow in a single day. Earlier reports from the mayor confirmed that four other drones had already been neutralised.
Russian air‑defence forces intercepted a wave of drones targeting Moscow and surrounding regions on December 10, highlighting a continued aerial threat to the country.
According to the Ministry of Defence, a total of 20 Ukrainian drones were neutralised overnight across several regions, including Bryansk, Kaluga, Belgorod, and Moscow. Bryansk saw the highest number of interceptions, with sixteen drones destroyed.
Officials emphasised that all threats were successfully neutralised and that no major civilian casualties were reported.
