Media: Araghchi visa denial triggers hardline push to end US negotiations
Iran’s hardline Kayhan newspaper has called on Tehran to suspend nuclear negotiations with Washington following the denial of a US visa to Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, which prevented him from attending meetings in New York.
According to the publication, cited by Iran International, halting the talks would help preserve Iran’s “dignity and respect” and serve as a deterrent against similar actions in the future. The newspaper also pointed to what it described as contradictions between Donald Trump’s rhetoric and the actions of his administration.
The development comes after reports that Araghchi would be unable to participate in the upcoming United Nations Security Council meeting in New York. The cancellation of his trip was attributed to difficulties in obtaining a US visa.
