Media: Armenian premier looking for new ministers

15 February 2024 11:33

Armenian Prime Minister is looking for new ministers, according to Zhokhovurd newspaper.

"Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan continues his search for new members of the government. He intends to make a 'revolution' inside the government by suddenly firing many people," Caliber.Az quotes the newspaper as saying.

"According to our sources, the only untouchable person at the moment is Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, whose work seems to suit both Pashinyan, the government and the elite of the ruling party. Our sources do not rule out that Pashinyan will change his opinion on this issue as well.

Pashinyan is dissatisfied with all heads of departments, all bodies subordinated to the government, heads of all bodies subordinated to the Prime Minister, and is looking for people to replace them.

The Prime Minister is facing serious personnel problems, he trusts the members of the legislative body who are loyal to him and proposes to move to the executive body. However, he has not yet succeeded in this endeavour. MPs refuse to take the minister's portfolio. At the moment, Pashinyan's hope is the personnel bank, but according to the data, he cannot find people even from there," the report specifies.

“Yesterday’s resignation of Armenian Economy Minister Vahan Kerobyan took the ruling “Civil Contract” by surprise”, the Zhokhovurd newspaper adds.

According to the newspaper, only a few people in the State Duma knew about the minister’s resignation; most learned about it from his note and were quite surprised.

“Moreover, Kerobyan’s resignation was not entirely to the liking of the representatives of the Civil Contract, especially the parliamentarians. Some also openly expressed regret because they had a good relationship with him. Unlike many other ministers, Kerobyan was always available to his teammates and was easy to work with,” the publication writes.
