Media: Convicted Russian serial killer dies fighting in Ukraine war
Yuri Gritsenko, a convicted serial killer known as the “Zelenograd Chikatilo”, has been killed in the zone of combat operations in Ukraine.
The deceased was a former police officer who was dismissed from service for alcohol abuse, Caliber.Az reports, citing SHOT.
In the mid-2000s, he committed a series of attacks in a forest park area in Zelenograd.
He is believed to have five victims on his record.
His modus operandi involved targeting women and striking them in the temple with a hammer.
In 2023, Gritsenko was released early on parole from a penal colony in Mordovia and later volunteered to take part in the war.
He served in a medical evacuation platoon of the “Storm Z” unit, where he came under fire from Ukrainian forces.
The body of the serial killer was not immediately identified. He is expected to be buried in Luhansk, according to the report.
