Media: Drone strike targets major Russian space communications centre PHOTO/VIDEO

30 June 2026 11:44

A major Russian space communications centre near the city of Dubna was reportedly targeted in a drone attack overnight, according to open-source intelligence (OSINT) accounts, as drones were also spotted over the Moscow region.

The Supernova+ monitoring Telegram channel published footage showing drones flying over the Moscow region.

The reports follow an earlier strike on the Dubna Space Communications Centre on June 22. Satellite imagery released after that attack appeared to show damage to the facility.

Unconfirmed reports also indicated that the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk may have come under attack overnight. Residents reported hearing explosions and seeing Russian air defence systems operating near the seaport.

Earlier, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that Russian air defences had destroyed more than 50 drones approaching the city.

The Dubna Space Communications Centre is one of Russia's largest satellite communications facilities. During the 1980s, it supported international satellite telephone links with the United States, the United Kingdom and Brazil, and was used for government communications between Soviet and Western leaders.
