Media: Iran executes Mossad agent
Iran has carried out the death sentence of Ali Ardestani, who was convicted of spying for the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad.
The sentence was final and approved by the country’s Supreme Court, and it was carried out fully in accordance with legal procedures, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
Ardestani’s execution took place at dawn on January 6 following the Supreme Court’s final approval.
Ardestani was found guilty of espionage and transmitting sensitive and classified information to Israel. Case materials indicate that he was recruited by Mossad online and carried out assigned tasks in exchange for financial payments and false promises.
Court documents, evidence, and the defendant’s confessions show that under the guidance of Mossad officers, he provided photographs of specific sites and information on targeted individuals, receiving payment in cryptocurrency.
Investigators also established that Ardestani personally met with Mossad-linked individuals in Iran, handing over collected information, photos, and videos before receiving further assignments.
Throughout all stages of the trial, Ardestani admitted that he was fully aware of his communications with Mossad operatives and deliberately transmitted valuable information to what Iranian authorities described as “the enemy.”
