Media: Iran ready for dialogue with Syria's new authorities
Iran has established relations with some members of Syria's new leadership and expressed its readiness for dialogue.
"Tehran has set up direct channels of communication with certain groups within the rebel leadership," a source said, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
An Iranian official also emphasised that the Islamic Republic is prepared to engage with Syria's new leadership to prevent the country from following a hostile path.
Earlier, Iran's Foreign Ministry stated that Tehran's priority is to establish security and stability in Syria following the capture of Damascus by militants and the resignation of President Bashar al-Assad. The ministry also emphasised that the Islamic Republic will seek to build relationships with all parties involved in the conflict. Tehran's main priority is to ensure security and stability in Syria after the militants took control of Damascus and President Bashar al-Assad stepped down. "The Iranian Foreign Ministry, amid the change in Syria’s leadership, expects that the relationship between the two countries will continue based on mutual interests and internationally recognized commitments," the ministry noted.
