Media: Israeli strikes kill 27 more in Gaza, bringing toll to 436 in two days of ceasefire collapse
At least 27 people have been killed in an Israeli army strike on a residential building located in the Sabra neighbourhood in the northern part of the Gaza City.
The number of deaths was reported by the enclave’s Health Ministry and conveyed by Al Jazeera.
In total, the ministry says the number of Palestinians that have been killed in Gaza since Israel resumed the bombardment of the enclave in the early hours of March 18 reached 436, including 183 children.
The ministry also went on to say that the death toll of Palestinians since the start of the Israel-Hamas war on October 7, 2023, amounts to 48,577. The number of wounded persons is 112,041.
On March 18, 2025, Israel launched extensive airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, effectively ending a two-month ceasefire with Hamas.
The Israeli government justified the offensive, named 'Operation Strength and Sword', by citing Hamas's refusal to release Israeli hostages and accept U.S. proposals to extend the ceasefire.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the strikes were "just the beginning" of renewed combat operations against Hamas.
The sudden resumption of hostilities has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with hospitals overwhelmed and thousands of residents displaced.
