Media: Nearly all refineries in European Russia hit by Ukrainian attacks

22 May 2026 09:00

Ukraine’s armed forces have carried out at least 158 strikes on Russian oil refineries since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, according to a report by the agency “Vot Tak.”

The report states that virtually all refineries in the European part of Russia have been targeted. It adds that among the country’s largest facilities — those with a processing capacity exceeding 10 million tons of oil per year — only the Omsk and Angarsk refineries, both located east of the Ural Mountains, have not been affected.

Overall, strikes have hit 24 out of 33 Russian oil refineries with a capacity of at least 1 million tons per year since the beginning of the war.

The intensity of attacks peaked in 2025, when 88 strikes were recorded. In the first five months of 2026 alone, Ukrainian forces have already conducted 32 strikes, a figure that nearly matches the total number of attacks recorded throughout 2024.

According to the report, the Ryazan and Saratov refineries have been the most frequently targeted, each sustaining 15 strikes. Both facilities are among the largest oil refineries in European Russia.
