Media: Polish military ends search for drone debris in country’s east
Around 150 Polish troops have ended a week-long search for debris from drones that entered the country’s airspace overnight between September 9 and 10.
The decision to halt the operation was made on October 30, according to Lieutenant Colonel Jacek Goriszewski, spokesperson for the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces, Caliber.Az report via foreign media.
He noted that the search efforts could be resumed if new information emerges indicating the need to continue the operation.
On the night of September 10, drones breached Poland’s airspace and were shot down shortly afterwards.
Initial reports indicated that 19 drones had crossed into Polish territory, with three or four destroyed by Polish F-16s and Dutch F-35s.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk described the incident as a “massive provocation” from Moscow.
US President Donald Trump suggested the airspace violation might have been accidental, but both Tusk and Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski rejected that view, insisting the attack by Russian drones was deliberate.
In the following weeks, debris from Russian drones was discovered in several locations across eastern Poland.
