Media: Russia outpaces Poland and China in promiscuity index

27 January 2026 09:22

Russia has ranked 32nd out of 45 countries in a global promiscuity index, according to data published by World Population Review.

Russia’s score stands at 258.72, based on several indicators, including the average age of first sexual experience, the average number of sexual partners, the prevalence of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), the legal status of prostitution, and social attitudes toward premarital sex.

The study found that the average age of first sexual contact in Russia is 18.7 years, with respondents reporting an average of nine sexual partners. Russia also ranked eighth among the surveyed countries for STD prevalence, which significantly affected its overall score. While prostitution remains illegal in Russia, the index noted that around half of Russians consider premarital sex socially acceptable.

Russia ranked higher than Poland (254.65), China (170.04), and India (169.73). In these countries, people tend to begin sexual activity later—particularly in India, where the average age of first sexual contact is 22.9 years—and report fewer sexual partners: 3.1 in China, three in India, and six in Poland.

The top positions in the ranking were occupied by Australia, Brazil, and Greece. Other countries in the top ten include Chile, New Zealand, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Thailand, and South Africa. The United States placed 15th, with an index score of 291.69.
