Media: Tanker hit in Taganrog Bay was en route from Türkiye
A tanker attacked by Ukrainian drones in Taganrog Bay on July 8 was en route from Türkiye to a port in Russia’s Rostov region, emergency services told TASS.
Regional authorities earlier reported that two tankers bound for Rostov-on-Don were damaged in the attack. Rostov Region Governor Yuri Slyusar said two people sustained minor injuries, and the crew of one of the vessels had to be evacuated.
“The tanker was travelling from Türkiye to one of the ports of the Rostov region. The crew and the vessel’s flag are Russian,” a source told the agency.
Local officials said the evacuated crew members were safe. Taganrog head Svetlana Kambulova stated that the lives of the 13 crew members of the tanker “Efrosinya” are not in danger following the incident.
The attack adds to a series of drone strikes affecting maritime activity in the area.
